The real conflict of the United States is not just with Iran or Venezuela.
Many analysts believe the deeper competition is actually with China.
For years, China has been buying cheap oil from Iran and Venezuela, often at discounted prices. In the past, China absorbed a large portion of Venezuela’s crude exports, sometimes using “shadow fleets” and re labeling shipments to avoid sanctions.
China has also been one of the biggest buyers of Iranian crude oil, often purchasing it at a discount compared to global oil prices. This has allowed Chinese refiners to save billions of dollars.
Another important factor is currency.
Much of the trade between China, Iran, and Venezuela has been conducted in Chinese yuan instead of US dollars, which challenges the dominance of the dollar in global trade.
