The first thing I did when I got down to reading about Mira Network was to come across another known plot. A blockchain initiative that attempted to correct AI hallucinations, wrapped in consensus buzzwords and token incentives. I have observed that trend too many times to be naturally suspicious.
But the deeper I studied the more uneasy my findings were. This is because Mira is not only making efforts to enhance AI. It is softly doubting the whole path that AI had been taking.
And that is where the interesting bit is
The Hidden Paradox of AI: Advances That Become a liability of their own
The advancement of AI is typically discussed in size. Bigger models. Better tests. More reasoning power. And yet what I began to see is that which most of us do not want to see:
Any advancement in AI makes verification more difficult.
This is not obvious at first. Think about it. The errors of an AI were apparent when it was feeble. Models are now highly developed that their inaccuracies are so subtle and dependent on the context and are usually indistinguishable with actual truth. The output is professional-looking, disciplined and sure, even in the wrong cases. There is a weird contradiction to that. The more advanced AI is, the more it requires human labor to verify it. And this isn’t just theory. This shift has been reflected in the data. With billions of tokens being processed by Mira itself every day, this is an indication that something is out of the ordinary - the use of AI is increasing at a rate that human verification cannot match. This is the real bottleneck. Not intelligence. Not compute. Verification!
What About the Alternative: Could the Issue Not be Hallucination but Accountability?
The majority of projects present the dilemma as hallucination. AI is a fabricator of things and we should minimize hallucinations. I believe that framing is not complete after studying the design of Mira. The actual problem is not the fact that AI is wrong. Herein the problem is that AI is never wrong.
Accountability defines behavior in human systems. The scientists submit papers with a hope that they will be peer-reviewed. Financial analysts do the calls because they are sure that they will be judged on results. Even markets work off a sense of responsibility - bad bets cost. AI, in its turn, works in a vacuum. There is no cost inherent to it producing outputs that are wrong. The system proposed by Mira presents the element that is not too much but too strong: economic responsibility towards reasoning. Nodes, which check wrongly, lose stake. The nodes that agree with consensus receive rewards. This may at the face of it appear to be normal crypto design. However, when you consider it more, it is, in fact, bringing a new concept: the outputs of AI are not produced anymore. They have been proven economically sound. That is quite another paradigm.
Mira Is Commercializing the Truth.
The more I examined the architecture of Mira, the more I began to think it was something I had not expected it to be- not a protocol but a market.
A market in which truth prevails. Every statement turns into the asset of value. Every node is a bettor as to whether it is correct. The agreement is price discovery. This is not what we are used to thinking of knowledge. Authority traditionally is the source of truth. What is right is determined by institutions, specialists or centralized structures. Mira gives that notion an inversion. It states that distributed incentives and competition can give rise to the truth. This is reminiscent of the financial markets, rather than of AI systems.
Markets are not aware of the right price of an asset. They learn it by being involved, by arguing and by coming to a compromise. That is the same thing that Mira is applying to information. And that is a radical idea.
