Trump Says America Should Move On From Epstein – But It May Not Be That Easy

President Donald Trump has said that it is time for America to move on from the Jeffrey Epstein case. However, even though the Justice Department says its review is finished, the controversy does not seem to be over.
Over the past two months, the US Department of Justice released millions of documents related to its sex-trafficking investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. Deputy US Attorney General Todd Blanche said the review is complete and there are no grounds for new prosecutions. He explained that while there are many emails, photos, and pieces of correspondence, they are not enough to bring charges against anyone.
Even though the Justice Department says the case is closed, Congress is still continuing its own investigation. The House of Representatives is moving forward, and former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are expected to testify later this month after Republicans threatened them with contempt of Congress.
Many of Epstein’s victims and some members of Congress believe important documents are still missing. They say not everything has been released. One victim, Lisa Phillips, said the Justice Department failed to meet their demands. She said many documents were not disclosed, the release was delayed, and the names of survivors were made public, which she believes was wrong.
President Trump said at the White House that it is “really time for the country to get on to something else.” He also said nothing damaging came out about him. However, documents show that Trump’s name appeared more than 6,000 times in the released files. Most references relate to his past friendship with Epstein in the 1990s. Trump has always said they stopped being friends around 2004.
Some emails and FBI tips mentioning Trump were included in the files. Many of these tips were unverified and lacked evidence. The Justice Department said some of the claims were false and politically motivated. At one point, some FBI tips disappeared from the website, which raised suspicions among critics who believed the department was trying to protect the president.
Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, have questioned whether all documents mentioning Trump were fully released. They are asking for access to unredacted versions of the files.
While some of Trump’s critics continue to raise concerns, much of his political base appears to have shifted attention to other issues. However, Democrats have promised that if they gain control of the House in the upcoming midterm elections, they may issue subpoenas for Trump and other Republicans to testify.
Although President Trump wants the country to move on, the Epstein case continues to create political tension. Even years after Epstein’s death, the story still remains active and controversial.
