On February 11, in the Caribbean Sea, a US Navy Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, the USS Truxtun, collided with a fast combat support ship, the USS Supply. Why did this happen?

First of all, this maritime replenishment is indeed a technical task. It is undoubtedly a high-risk, high-precision operation that requires both ships to maintain a very close distance (usually only 30–60 meters) and stable course and speed. Once the bridge personnel are fatigued, inadequately trained, or there is a communication error, such as incorrect steering commands or improper speed control, it can easily lead to a collision.

Secondly, the decline in personnel training and readiness levels has made such operational accidents inevitable for the US military. Of course, there are also accidents like carrier aircraft falling into the sea; it is an undeniable fact that the US military's standards have declined recently.

However, I think that compared to India, this kind of accident is still a piece of cake. The US military still has a lot of room for improvement.
