Getting started on Algorand no longer requires generating a brand new wallet. We are rolling out cross chain account abstraction that enables almost any EVM wallet, including MetaMask and Rainbow, to connect seamlessly with Algorand dApps.
There are no custodial shortcuts involved, nor is there any risk regarding shared signatures. Your existing EVM key simply authorizes an abstracted Algorand account. We employ structured signing within a strictly isolated Algorand domain, ensuring that signatures are designed to be invalid elsewhere.
On the technical side, builders will find that we have merged RainbowKit into @txnlab/use-wallet. This update allows for nearly universal EVM wallet compatibility inside an Algorand dApp with just minimal config.

We are pleased to announce that Bruno Martins, our current Vice President of engineering and Chief Architect, will be assuming the position of Acting CTO. Known to the community as @bmartins_, he has been a pivotal leader at Algorand for several years and played a vital role in moving our roadmap forward.

The @swyptio platform is now officially active on Algorand. This integration enables merchants to collect payments in Kenyan Shillings using M-Pesa, with subsequent on-chain settlement in USDC. Additionally, new infrastructure connecting M-Pesa and USDC links builders to the region's primary payment network, which processes approximately 59% of Kenya's GDP. This marks a shift toward real payments for real merchants.
