How will the $1.9 Billion Bitcoin Options Expiration Impact the Market Today?

Approximately 27,000 Bitcoin options contracts, worth roughly $1.9 billion, are set to expire today. This event is smaller than usual and is not expected to significantly impact spot markets. Despite relatively flat cryptocurrency prices this week, total capitalization has increased by $150 billion since Monday. The put/call ratio for this week's Bitcoin options contracts is 0.97, indicating a balanced long and short position. Significant open interest remains at the $60,000 strike price on Deribit, totaling $1.7 billion in bearish bets. Additionally, around 185,000 Ethereum contracts will also expire today, which adds up to a total notional value of crypto options expiries of approximately $2.3 billion. Meanwhile, spot markets are experiencing a slight uptick, with the total capitalization reaching $2.5 trillion, the highest level for the week.
