What is Midnight?
Midnight is a new blockchain network that has been created especially for privacy. In normal blockchains, every transaction is public, and anyone can check on a blockchain explorer who sent money to whom. But in Midnight, the goal is that the transaction gets verified, while the user’s private information is not revealed. That’s why this network uses Zero-Knowledge Proof technology. In simple words, Zero-Knowledge Proof means you can prove that a transaction is correct without revealing all the details.
Who created Midnight?
Midnight is being developed as a sidechain project of Cardano. The team wants to build a blockchain where both privacy and regulation can work together.
What is the coin of Midnight?
The main coin of Midnight is NIGHT (Midnight token). This coin is used for:
Securing the network
Staking
Governance (taking part in network decisions)
Running DApps
What are NIGHT and DUST?
Midnight has a special system with two elements:
1. NIGHT – the main coin. It can be held or staked.
2. DUST – used to pay transaction fees.
A simple example:
If you hold NIGHT, it generates DUST, and DUST is used to pay fees. This means you don’t have to buy another coin every time to pay transaction fees.
What is the goal of Midnight?
The goal of Midnight is:
1. To keep people’s privacy protected
2. To allow companies to use blockchain technology
3. To make it possible to follow government regulations
Many companies do not use public blockchains because their data becomes visible to everyone.
I have explained everything to you in detail — what Midnight is and what DUST is.
