The Washington Post has reported, citing three officials, that Russia is providing intelligence (spy information) to Iran to help target U.S. forces.
Through its highly advanced spy satellites, Russia is reportedly giving Iran real-time images and location data of American military bases.
With the help of this information, Iranian missiles and drones are now reportedly able to evade the U.S. defense system (Patriot) and strike their targets directly.
Russia is doing this because the United States previously provided Ukraine with missiles and intelligence that helped Ukraine destroy several major Russian naval ships and military bases. Now, Putin is responding to Biden in the same language.
If this intelligence leads to a major American naval ship or base being hit and hundreds of U.S. soldiers are killed, the United States may consider directly attacking Russia.
A Pentagon spokesperson has stated that if any American soldier is harmed with the help of Russian intelligence, the responsibility will not only lie with Iran but directly with Russia. The United States has warned that it reserves the right to respond.
U.S. officials say that Putin is “playing with fire” in the Middle East. According to them, Russia is pushing the entire region toward a global war in an attempt to take revenge for the war in Ukraine.
The Pentagon has immediately ordered its bases in Gulf countries (such as Qatar and Bahrain) to change their positions and radar frequencies so that the old information provided by Russian satellites becomes useless for Iranian missiles.
American defense experts are acknowledging that:
Russia’s electronic warfare capabilities (signal-jamming ability) and satellite data have put the U.S. missile defense system (Patriot) under pressure.
The United States is now in a defensive position and fears that if Russia also provides Iran with its advanced S-400 missile system, it could become nearly impossible for American aircraft to enter Iranian airspace.
At the moment, the United States is under significant pressure from this move by Russia, because it does not have the capacity to confront two nuclear powers (Russia and China) and a regional power (Iran) at the same time.
