Sometimes in crypto we hear one common advice: “Just hold your tokens and be patient.”
But from my experience in this space, especially after being around crypto for many years, I’ve learned that holding blindly can also be risky.
Let me explain why.
Recently I noticed something interesting when looking at a few projects:
plumenetwork → about 95% down from its ATH
LineaBuild → around 93% down from its ATH
Lighter_xyz → roughly 71% down from its ATH
zama→ nearly 51% down from its ATH
When I see numbers like this, it reminds me of an important lesson. In crypto, price can move very fast in both directions. A project that looks strong today can lose a large part of its value tomorrow.

I am not saying these projects are bad. Many of them are still building interesting technology. But what I’ve personally learned is that price and technology are two very different things.
Sometimes the market gets excited early.
Sometimes narratives push prices higher than the real adoption.
And sometimes the market simply moves its attention somewhere else.
When that happens, people who bought at the top and decided to “hold forever without thinking” end up sitting on huge losses.
Over time I realized something important about crypto investing: holding works only when you understand what you are holding and why.
Blind holding is different from conviction holding.
Conviction holding means:
* You understand the technology
* You follow the team and development
* You watch adoption and ecosystem growth
* You adjust your strategy when things change
Blind holding means:
* Buying because everyone else is buying
* Ignoring warning signs
* Believing price will always return to ATH
Crypto markets are still very young and very emotional. Narratives change quickly. Liquidity moves quickly. What is trending today may be forgotten next year.
Personally, this is why I try to remind myself of one rule: research never stops.
Holding a token should not mean closing your eyes and waiting.
It should mean staying aware, learning, and adapting.
Because in this market, survival is not just about finding good projects.
It’s about knowing when to hold, when to wait, and when to rethink your position.
What do you think — is “just hold” still the best strategy in crypto today, or do we need a smarter approach? 🤔
