Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it targeted the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln with naval drones while the vessel was operating in the Sea of Oman.

According to Iranian statements, the carrier had moved to within roughly 340 kilometers of Iran’s maritime borders when the drones were launched. Iranian officials say the aircraft carrier and its accompanying destroyers withdrew from the area and moved to a distance of about 1,000 kilometers afterward.

The USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group has been operating in the broader region near the Strait of Hormuz, an area that remains strategically important for global oil shipments and international trade routes.
So far, independent verification of the strike has not been confirmed, and U.S. military officials have previously denied similar claims about damage to the carrier.
