Zilliqa confirms an upcoming network hard fork that introduces Cancun-EVM compatibility and a number of infrastructure improvements. The update includes accelerated network communication based on QUIC, flexible RPC request throttling, and parallel checkpoint generation, with activation on the mainnet around block number 19486411.
Zilliqa (ZIL) is a permissionless, public blockchain designed to provide high throughput and secure smart contract execution. Launched in 2017, it was the first blockchain to implement sharding technology, which enables parallel confirmation of new blocks, significantly increasing the number of transactions the network can process per second.
Zilliqa's native cryptocurrency, also called ZIL, is used for transaction fees and as gas for smart contract execution. The main goal of the project is to provide new solutions to the scalability problem of existing blockchains, thereby enabling the effective use of blockchain technology in sectors requiring high-speed transactions, such as digital advertising, gaming, and financial services.$ZIL
