Dosto, the world of crypto can be as ruthless as it is profitable. Today, an unlucky user (wallet 0xd674) lost 4,556 $ETH. There was no hack, no virus—just a small Copy-Paste mistake and everything was over.

What Actually Happened? 👇

This wallet often sent funds to "Galaxy Digital". Its fixed address was: 0x6D90...2E48.

But a clever attacker noted this pattern. They created a very similar (fake) address where the first and last 4 digits were exactly the same. Then they sent the victim small "Dust" transactions to push that fake address to the top of the victim's transaction history.

That one mistake that turned out to be costly 😫

About 11 hours ago, the victim tried to deposit again. In a hurry, they copied the address from the transaction history... but ended up picking the attacker's fake address instead.

One Click... and 4,556 ETH straight to the thief!

There is no 'Undo' button in crypto. Once a transaction is done, consider it done. Game Over. 💀

A Lesson for Us: ⚠️

The blockchain doesn’t see your intent, it only sees the address.

  • Always Double-Check: Don’t just look at the first and last digits, check the words in between as well.

  • Don’t Copy from History: Never make the mistake of copying an address from transaction history, there could be 'Poisoned' addresses there.

  • Whitelist: Keep your regular addresses saved in your wallet by 'Saving' or 'Whitelisting' them.

Remember, the seconds you save by copy-pasting can sometimes cost you a lifetime of earnings. Stay Safe!
