CZ says Binance Square could evolve into a platform for concise, neutral daily news

He supports broader content beyond crypto, including AI and global macro topics

Product performance and stability should come before adding new features

Changpeng Zhao has shared his personal view on the future direction of Binance Square, saying the platform has the potential to become a destination for high-quality, neutral information and broader discussion beyond crypto.

Responding to a question from Square bloggers about whether diversified content aligns with Square’s long-term strategy, CZ emphasized that he was speaking from a personal perspective rather than in an official product role.

“I actually don’t care about Binance’s products or Square’s products. I’m a Square user,” he said, clarifying that his comments reflected personal opinion.

A Need for Clear, Neutral Daily News

CZ said one of his personal challenges is the lack of a single platform where he can easily access a concise and comprehensive overview of daily crypto and global news.

He noted that some news aggregation formats in the past — particularly short, well-curated daily news lists — were done effectively, but have since declined in quality or visibility.

According to CZ, there should be a place where users can quickly review the day’s top 10, 20, or 30 news items in a neutral, unbiased format. He said Binance Square has the potential to fill that gap.

Beyond Crypto: AI, Macro, and Cross-Industry Topics

CZ also agreed that Square should not be limited strictly to blockchain-related content. He pointed out that crypto is closely connected to other industries, including artificial intelligence, geopolitics, and global economic policy.

He cited examples such as international tax negotiations and macroeconomic developments, noting that these factors often have a direct or indirect impact on the crypto market.

In his view, Square could serve as a space where users not only consume information, but also engage in broader discussions that intersect with crypto.

Product Performance Comes First

While optimistic about Square’s direction, CZ said the product still needs further improvement, particularly in terms of performance and stability.

He acknowledged that the current live broadcast experience was smoother than previous attempts, describing the session as a performance test. However, he stressed that strong, lag-free performance should be the foundation before additional features are introduced.

“The product should first have very strong performance — very smooth, without lag. New functions can come later,” he said.

CZ noted that Square’s mobile live broadcast feature was only recently launched, coinciding with BNB-related events, and that continued iteration should be expected.

Elevating Content Quality on Social Platforms

CZ also commented on the broader content landscape, saying social media today is often filled with low-quality or noisy content, while some news outlets rely heavily on clickbait or unverified reporting.

He said this creates an opportunity for Square to stand out as a platform that surfaces high-quality, trustworthy content and encourages meaningful discussion.
