Oh, what a mess, this Sam Bankman-Fried, who founded FTX, is saying from behind bars that this brokerage was never broke, and that this bankruptcy that the new team imposed was staged to get their hands on the money. His words are coming out on X, but it's a guy who takes what he says from prison and posts it online.
He said this:
“FTX was never bankrupt. I never filed for bankruptcy for it. The lawyers took over the company and, four hours later, they already filed a fake bankruptcy just to be able to loot.”
Well, yes, but the guy was sentenced to 25 years in prison in March 2024, due to seven charges of fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy. The justice people said he misappropriated more than 8 billion dollars from FTX clients, spending it on risky investments and even sponsoring famous athletes, like Tom Brady.
FTX, which was once one of the largest in the cryptocurrency sector, ended up going under because of his and his team's criminal mismanagement.
And it doesn't stop there: Sam is now waving at Trump, saying that both he and the former president were persecuted by the Biden government. He claims he was a victim of 'lawfare,' with fabricated charges and no chance to defend himself properly. He even mentioned Trump's case, who was charged with 34 accounting crimes, saying that's something that normally lawyers and accountants resolve.
Sam also complains that, in his judgment, they didn't let him show proof that FTX was operational and didn't allow him to speak about the actions of the lawyers. For him, the Biden government developed a grudge against the cryptocurrency sector and started treating him as a political enemy after he left the Democrats and got closer to the Republicans.
However, even with these gestures, Trump has already stated that he will not grant a pardon to Sam.
