Scammers have targeted Binance users in a new campaign through text messages. According to reports from users of the platform, scammers are sending messages that appear to be real.
The text messages shared by users follow a similar pattern. They draw attention to a security issue and ask users to call a number to resolve it. In this way, they evade fraud protection measures that detect malicious links but do not detect the phone number.
Users receive alerts about various different incidents, including reports of logins from a different location, the addition of a new two-factor authentication device, or connecting to a new hardware wallet.
So far, there have been no reports of victims, but users on X have warned others about the risks, pointing out that Binance will never ask customers to call a phone number. Meanwhile, one user mentioned that they had called that number.
