Polymarket has announced the opening of "The Polymarket," New York City's first free grocery store, located at 137 South 7th Avenue. According to BlockBeats, this initiative is designed to serve New Yorkers and was built by the community for the community.
The launch comes amid intensified competition between prediction market platforms Kalshi and Polymarket, both engaging in promotional activities involving free food in New York. On February 3, Kalshi initiated a campaign at WestSide Market in downtown Manhattan, offering customers $50 worth of free groceries. The event attracted large crowds, with many participants noting the value equated to several hours of wages. Kalshi co-founder Tarek Mansour stated that the initiative aimed to give back to the community and expand their user base.
In response, Polymarket opened "The Polymarket" today, offering all products for free without any purchase requirements, accessible to all New Yorkers. Additionally, Polymarket has donated $1 million to local food banks.
