Most losses do not come from a bad market, but from an impulsive entry. A professional trader never clicks without validation. Here is a clear checklist to follow before each position.
1️⃣ Global context
✔️ What is the trend on the higher timeframe? (Daily / 4H)
✔️ Is the market trending or ranging?
✔️ Is there a macro event or important news today?
2️⃣ Market structure
✔️ Higher High / Higher Low (uptrend) or Lower High / Lower Low (downtrend)?
✔️ Is the key zone (support/resistance) clearly identified?
✔️ Does the price show a clean reaction in this zone?
3️⃣ Confirmation
✔️ Volume consistent with the movement?
✔️ Break confirmed or just a wick?
✔️ Retest validated before entry?
4️⃣ Risk management
✔️ Stop loss placed BEFORE entry?
✔️ Maximum risk = 1–2% of capital?
✔️ Minimum Risk/Reward ratio 1:2?
✔️ Position size calculated correctly?
5️⃣ Mental state
✔️ Am I calm?
✔️ Is this a planned trade or an emotional reaction?
✔️ Am I respecting my strategy?
6️⃣ Exit plan
✔️ Clear objective defined?
✔️ Invalidating scenario accepted?
✔️ Plan B if the market changes?
A validated trade must check almost all the boxes. Otherwise, abstain.
The truth: not trading is sometimes the best decision.
The market offers opportunities every week. Your capital, however, is limited.
A good trader does not enter because they are bored.
They enter because their plan is aligned with the market.
👉 Discipline > impulse. Always.
