AltcoinSeasonTalkTwoYearLow (Long-term)

Recently, discussions about Altcoin Season have dropped to their lowest level in nearly two years. This decline in conversation reflects the current market structure, where Bitcoin continues to dominate the crypto market while many altcoins struggle to gain momentum. The Altcoin Season Index measures how many of the top 100 cryptocurrencies outperform Bitcoin over a 90-day period. If at least 75% outperform Bitcoin, the market is considered to be in altcoin season. However, recent readings show the market leaning strongly toward “Bitcoin season.”

One major reason for this trend is the rising Bitcoin dominance, which has recently climbed above 60%. When Bitcoin dominance increases, it usually means investors are focusing more on Bitcoin as a safer or more stable asset in the crypto market. As a result, liquidity that might normally flow into altcoins stays concentrated in Bitcoin.

Historically, altcoin seasons tend to appear after Bitcoin experiences a strong rally and then stabilizes. At that point, investors start rotating profits from Bitcoin into smaller cryptocurrencies, which can trigger explosive growth in altcoins. Until that shift happens, altcoins often remain relatively quiet.

The current two-year low in altcoin discussions may actually signal early accumulation and preparation for the next cycle. In previous market cycles, similar periods of silence were followed by massive altcoin rallies once capital rotation began.
