$BTC 1. Pakistan–Afghanistan Open War Escalation

The conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan has sharply escalated into what Islamabad describes as “open war” after days of cross-border fighting and airstrikes. Both governments have repeatedly targeted each other’s forces near the long, 2,600 km Durand Line border. 

Pakistan’s military says it killed dozens of Afghan troops in clashes; Kabul rejects the figures and claims it has also inflicted losses on Pakistani forces. Both sides accuse each other of violating ceasefire agreements.
