Midnight Network: Core Network Functions

DUST Generation: NIGHT's primary function is to generate DUST, the shielded renewable resource used to pay for transaction fees on Midnight.

The more NIGHT a holder has, the more DUST they generate per unit of time, enabling more frequent transactions

Block Production Rewards: NIGHT is used to incentivize block producers (Cardano SPOs) who validate Midnight blocks and secure the network. Rewards are distributed from the on-chain Reserve — no new tokens are minted for this purpose.

On-chain Governance: NIGHT is intended to be used for decentralized governance of the Midnight network.

Ecosystem Growth Incentives: NIGHT is earmarked for broader ecosystem development activities.
