🇺🇸 US BUDGET DEFICIT EXCEEDS $1 TRILLION, BUT HAS REDUCED COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS YEAR

🔹 The US budget deficit reached $1.004 trillion in the fiscal year ending February, but was 12% lower than the same period in 2025, as government revenue grew faster than spending.

🔹 Revenue from tariffs surged, with total import tax revenue reaching $151 billion, up $113 billion (+294%) from a year earlier. This is a rare change, as tariff revenue surpassed corporate tax revenue this fiscal year.

🔹 Meanwhile, interest payments on the $39 trillion national debt remain high, reaching $79 billion in February alone, making it one of the largest federal government expenditures after Social Security and healthcare.

🔹 In fiscal year 2025, the United States spent approximately $1.2 trillion in net interest payments on its national debt. This expenditure is equivalent to about 3.2% of GDP, making it the third largest federal government expenditure, surpassing both defense spending and Medicare.
